ABOUT THE OPERA: Vivaldi’s opera in three acts brings the folktale Griselda to life. In this story of obedience and patience, Griselda must endure several hardships to gain the support of the realm.

CAST*

Gualtiero, King of Thessaly - tenor (or high baritone)
Griselda, Gualtiero’s wife - low mezzo/contralto
Costanza, Princess, their daughter, unknown to her mother - soprano
Roberto, an Athenian Prince, Costanza’s lover - countertenor (or mezzo-soprano)
Ottone, a Thessalian Knight - mezzo-soprano (or countertenor)
Corrado, Roberto’s brother and a friend of Gualtiero - mezzo-soprano

*Stipends available for all cast member



AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
2 contrasting arias: at least 1 in Italian and at least 1 showcasing fast-moving, baroque coloratura vocal lines
